PROGRAMS
Aurora Program at Fleury Park Courts
Our Aurora program started in 1998 and it takes place on outdoor hard courts. We run recreational group lessons for kids, aged 3 to 17 and summer camps for kids, aged 6 to 12. We also offer adult group lessons for beginner to intermediate-level players.
Players can register for a Spring, Summer, or Fall session of 7 to 9 weeks in length with weekly one-hour lessons. These lessons are planned according to age and level for players under 18 and only by level for adults over 18.
Online registration and player-level definitions are listed on our ‘Registration Page’
Recreational Program
All of our programs are designed for players who are just getting started or those who have experience and want to continue to grow their game. We would like to see all of our players elevate their tennis skills to an intermediate level.
When Lessons are Cancelled
We will post a notice at least 1 hour before the first scheduled lesson, on our Instagram and Facebook Pages when lessons will be canceled for an evening session or a day session, due to inclement weather.
So please follow us on social media
We offer one week of lessons at the end of each session to offer a make-up time for any group that had a lesson canceled due to inclement weather. The lesson will be held on the normal day and time and only one make up lesson is offered regardless of the number of cancellations.
Our famous Tots program is for kids aged 3 and 4, a weekly 30-minute class with a maximum of 4 children per instructor. The aim of the program is to establish fundamentals in physical literacy; balance, footwork, focus on the ball, throwing fundamentals, and the introduction of the forehand, backhand, and serve. Players will benefit from the use of our appropriately sized and weighted mini racquets along with smaller low-compression tennis balls for comfort.
Junior Group lessons are for kids aged 5 to 17 and are offered once per week for a 1-hour class with a maximum of 6 players per court per coach. Our junior lessons focus on footwork, all strokes, ball control, and procedures for match play. The focus is always on fun activities and full effort.
Adult Group lessons are offered at three levels, Beginner, Beginner2, and Intermediate. Maximum 6 players in a class, allows the coach to focus on stroke fundamentals, positioning and movement, serving, doubles match play and strategies.
Summer Morning Tennis Camp is for kids aged 6 to 12 at beginner to intermediate level. This is a four-day week, Monday to Thursday mornings from 9 am to 12 pm. If one of the four days is canceled due to weather concerns or wet courts, we run camp on Friday as a make-up day. There is No rain day facility for this camp.
The camp focuses on building self-esteem and respect of peers while teaching the fundamentals of tennis (serve, ground strokes & volleys) in game-based drills emphasizing balance and footwork. The coaches use balls and court sizes appropriate to the age of the group. Campers enjoy breaks in the shaded park area beside the courts. The last day of each week is a Fun team tournament with pizza and prizes for each camper.
